Engine fire on Carnival Splendor

12/Nov/2010

The Carnival Splendor, a cruise ship of the Carnival Cruise Lines was left without power after a fire in the engine while the ship was sailing through Mexican waters. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire.

The ship was left stranded off the Mexican coast for several days relying on its auxillary generators for power.

Helicopters from the US Aircraft Carrier USS Ronald Reagen delivered pallets of supplies to the ship whos onboard food supplies were rotting due to the loss of power.

The crippled cruise ship has now safely pulled into San Diego harbour with its 4500 passengers.
